The Machame Route is one of the most scenic and popular trails to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known as the “Whiskey Route” for its more adventurous and physically demanding nature, this trail offers stunning views, a rich variety of landscapes, and good acclimatization. The route requires camping, with experienced crews setting up tents and preparing meals each day.
Depart Arusha in the morning for the drive to Machame Gate. After registration and briefing, begin trekking through lush rainforest. Arrive at Machame Camp for dinner and overnight.

A key acclimatization day. Trek to Lava Tower at 4,600m, then descend to Barranco Camp. The hike helps your body adjust to higher altitudes.

Climb the famous Barranco Wall, a non-technical but exhilarating scramble. Traverse ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp.

Today’s trek is shorter but steeper. Arrive at Barafu Camp by mid-afternoon to rest before your midnight summit attempt.

Begin your final ascent just after midnight. Reach Stella Point at sunrise and continue to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Mweka Camp for rest.

Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and return to Arusha for a well-earned rest.
